VUmc CCA develops new test with donation money
On behalf of Professor Geert Kazemier, director of VUmc Cancer Center Amsterdam, we would like to thank everyone for the donations that were donated during the 30th year jubilee of Cobraspen.

Professor Geert Kazamier: “With the money that was raised, we are able to honor eleven instead of the ten annual tests, so we are very pleased. We want to develop a new test that can predict whether an individual patient can be treated effectively with a medicine that responds to growth signals from tumors. There are already several drugs that signal this, but it appears that this is only effective for a part of these patients. We hope to get a better understanding of the important growth signals in the tumor of an individual patient, so that a medicine can be chosen that is aimed against these growth signals, and much research needs to be done before this new test can actually be used in the treatment. We are very hopeful that this information will make it possible to predict whether the patient will benefit from the treatment with a specific drug. We would like to thank everyone for supporting our research”.
